SISTA
Sisters Inspiring Sisters through the Arts (SISTA) was formed with the specific intent of providing developmental and educational opportunities to those who may benefit from its services. Specifically SISTA’s mission and sole purpose it to motivate and uplift youth and young adults through cultural experiences and exposure to the performing arts ultimately leading to revelation and development of talent, confidence, and skills for success.
Participation in the performing arts has been increasingly accepted as an essential part of achieving success in school work and life and according to research is vital to well rounded development and education. Arts education has been found to improve critical thinking skills, discipline, focus, and academic performance as well as to develop self expression, confidence, and social skills. While there are clear and definite positive impacts of the performing arts, arts education programs are disappearing from our educational systems and those with performing art interests are being forced to seek out private or independent sources for instruction. Schools in low income areas are cutting arts programs at a disproportionate rate and these students cannot afford to participate in private study.
SISTA will serve the community as a whole by providing quality educational outreach services and programs that are accessible to all who have the desire and passion to participate in the performing arts. These include educational and mentoring programs as well as funding assistance with private study of performing arts.
